Safari7s: Women Take Centre Stage

By Rogue Rugby TV · 2026-10-13 · 2 MIN

A carry through contact. Support on the shoulder. Kenya and Uganda bring the intensity as women’s rugby takes its place at Safari7s.

Ball tucked in. Defender closing. A teammate ready on the outside. This Safari7s photograph captures women’s rugby where it belongs: in the thick of the action.

Kenya’s green meets Uganda’s black, red and yellow at Nyayo. The ball carrier drives through a tackle while another defender reaches into the contest. It is a snapshot of the pressure, strength and support that make sevens such a demanding game.

Six women’s teams were part of the 28th Safari7s, held in Nairobi from 9–11 October 2026: Kenya Lionesses, Uganda, Kenya Shibli, Tunisia, Tuks Women and Junior Lionesses. The women’s round-robin put established internationals and emerging Kenyan talent on the same stage.

Among the results reported to Rogue Rugby TV, the Lionesses beat Junior Lionesses 19–5 and Tunisia 19–12. Tracy Montex, Sheila Chajira and Catherine Elizabeth were the reported try scorers against Tunisia. Those results belong to the wider tournament story; this photo is not being used to identify a particular scoring play or player.

Women’s rugby is not a side note. The carries, the collisions, the ambition — it is the full rugby story. Rogue Rugby TV is here to tell it.
